David was introduced by Humphrey Sheehan, a life-long friend, who comes up in the book (hint: as somebody who owned a piece of Richard memorabilia). The personal highlight of the evening for the author was sharing memories with his road-hockey buddies Humphrey and his brother Kevin. David actually stopped in Moncton on route to sell a few copies to a three SIHR (Society for International Hockey Research) members who couldn't make the trip to Fredericton: Ron Leger, Rheal Robichaud, and Marc Dallaire.
A great AV set up in the Chickadee Room of the Fredericton Library allowed guests to enjoy a couple of rare newsreels from the early 1950s. The first to arrive was Ernie Fitzsimmons who has written the most comprehensive history of hockey in the Fredericton area. Ernie is also a founding member of SIHR. Former Hab Danny Grant and his granddaughter were in attendance, as was local novelist and UNB professor Mark Jarman
The winner of the signed card was Danny Grant's granddaughter, Stephanie. Toward the end of the evening a draw was held for the framed reproduction of another Kilpatrick photo. This prize went to a man who slipped into the room at the last moment--you never know.
Book sales were managed by Janet North of Westminster Books. A special thanks to Humphrey Sheehan for publcity and Tyler Griffin of the Fredericton Public Library for making the evening another successful event.
